If you have ever wished to read the Holy Qur’an fluently but did not know where to begin, the Noorani Qaida is your first, gentle step: and it is never too late to take it.
The Noorani Qaida is a beautifully structured primer that teaches the Arabic letters, their sounds and the rules of joining them, long before a learner attempts full verses of the Qur’an. Think of it as laying a strong foundation: every stone placed carefully so that everything built upon it stands firm.
Why begin with the Qaida?
Many adults feel shy about “starting from the beginning”. Yet the Qaida is precisely what gives confident, accurate recitation. It trains the tongue to produce each letter from its correct point of articulation (makhraj) and the ear to recognise the subtle differences between similar sounds.
What you will learn
- The individual Arabic letters and their correct pronunciation.
- Short and long vowels (harakaat and madd).
- Tanween, sukoon, shaddah and how letters connect.
- The first rules of Tajweed, introduced gently and in context.
How long does it take?
With consistent one-to-one lessons, most students complete the Noorani Qaida within a few months. Children often move quickly because the lessons feel like play; adults progress steadily once the early letters become familiar. At our academy the Qaida is taught over roughly four months, five days a week, entirely at the learner’s pace.
The Prophet (s) said: the best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.
Tips for new learners
Practise a little every day rather than a lot once a week. Repeat each letter aloud until it feels natural. And do not rush, accuracy now saves years of correction later. Above all, keep your intention sincere; you are learning the speech of Allah.
